Thomas Hennessy New York Jets Snapper

Thomas Hennessy New York Jets Snapper
In 2017 Thomas Hennessy the snapper at  Duke University attended Coach Zauner's College Senior Combine along with 23 other top college senior snappers.
This combine was designed by Coach Zauner eight years ago for College Seniors to get exposure to NFL Teams. This combine has not only helped snappers get exposure to NFL teams but more importantly has had unbelievable results.

In the last nine years, Coach Zauner's Snapping Programs have now produced 20 snappers on NFL and CFL rosters.
Coach Zauner has a reputation for having an "Eye" for talent
Every year in February the top college seniors specialists come to Gilbert, Arizona to attend this combine to show case their snapping, punting and kicking skills to get Coach Zauner's endorsement and recommendation to NFL and CFL teams.

Thomas Hennessy Watches  and Coach Zauner Evaluates Combine Snappers
When I first met Thomas at the combine, my first impression was this young man is a big, good looking athlete at 6'3 and 250 pounds.

Thomas Hennessy Tests on Coach Zauner's Perfect Laces Drill
During the Combine Thomas and the other snappers were first tested on field goal accuracy and consistency in Coach Zauner;s "Perfect Laces" Drill.

Thomas Hennessy Tests on Coach Zauner's Balls and Strikes Drill
Next, the snappers were tested on their ability to punt snap.  Coach Zauner has designed a Balls and Strikes Drill that tests each snapper with an emphasis not only on accuracy and consistency but more importantly their ability to snap and block right and left.

Many college snappers are excellent snappers but do not have the size or ability to snap and block an NFL rusher.  This is why the snappers at my combine are tested on all aspects of the snapping game and evaluated on their potential to be an NFL prospect.
Thomas Hennessy Tests on Coach Zauner's Agility Coverage Drill
The final test is Coach Zauner's Agility Coverage Drill.  It makes each snapper, snap, block a rusher, sprint downfield, hit the ground, get up, run over bags, hit and seat roll and show his ability to break down and tackle.   It really shows me and the NFL coaches that watch these videos, how athletic the snapper will be in their coverage schemes.
Thomas Hennessy at Meeting with Coach Zauner Talking About "The Process"
Also, during the combine Coach Zauner talks to all the specialists about "The Process", The draft process. Coach talks about agents, selecting agents, senior pro days, NFL coaches workouts, the draft mini camp tryouts and Free Agency.

Thomas along with several other snappers performed very well and received Coach Zauner's recommendation to the NFL Special Teams Coordinators.   Many of these snappers received NFL mini camp invitations and others signed Free Agent Contracts with various NFL Teams.

Thomas after the 2017 NFL Draft signed with the Indianapolis Colts. It was a good signing because the Colts had just released Matt Overton their veteran snapper.  He went to mini camp, training camp and then got traded to the New York Jets.  Surprise!

I just talked to Thomas today as he had just finished his Friday practice preparing for his first NFL game. I called to congratulate him on becoming the starting snapper for the New York Jets for the 2017 NFL season.  Good luck Thomas and continued success!
