University of Virginia Punter, Nicholas Conte has big day vs UCLA

Nicholas Conte University of Virginia Punter
Just want to congratulate University of Virginia Punter, Nicholas Conte for his big game vs UCLA. This was not just Nick's opening game of the 2015 season, but  also his first college career game.

In Nick's first game he punted (4) times and averaged 50.5 yards per punt.  He also had a fake punt for a first down. Way to go Nick!

 Below, read Doug Doughty Article:
Article About Nicholas Conte University of Virginia Punter

I first met Nicholas about two years ago after Allison Conte, Nick's mother called me about checking out some video of here son during spring practice.  She felt her son had potential but never really had any type of quality coaching.

After a (1) hour phone consultation evaluating Nick's technique he went back to practice.  Nicholas felt the suggestions I recommended worked but wanted more.  He wanted to meet me for a ONE on ONE Punting Lesson.  A couple weeks later Nicholas, Allison and Nick Sr. were on a plane to meet Coach Zauner in Fountain Hills, Arizona.

After two years of several ONE on ONE Punting Lessons and PRO Development Camps for College Specialists, Nicholas has improved immensely.  A matter of fact at my 2015 May Camp Nicholas won the punting contest.  Below he is pictured with his snapper during the competition, San Diego State's Jeffery Overbaugh.  Jeffery is a senior this year and will be one of the top snappers coming out for the 2016 NFL draft.

Nicholas has worked relentlessly on improving his drop and his punting technique.  When he came to Arizona for his ONE on ONE Lessons he had a flat to nose up drop and was a very mechanical style punter.  As I advertise on my website, Coach Zauner teaches a more 'Natural Style of Punting and Kicking'.

In the last two years Nicholas has steadily improved not only with his technique but in all phases of his punting game.  He has become a good Directional Punter as well as improving his inside the 10 yard line Aussie Drop Punts.  As a former LaCrosse and Soccer athlete, running for a first down against UCLA was also pretty natural.

Once again congrats to Nicholas in his first career college game.  However, with all athletes success is measured with consistent performances.  I believe if any punter has better fundamentals and technique he will be more consistent.  With Nick's improved technique, hard work and dedication I expect more great things in his future!

Sam Martin Detroit Lions Punter And Coach Zauner's College Senior Combine producing Results

Detroit Lions Sam Martin Producing Results
I was watching the Detroit Lions 3rd preseason games against the New England Patriots to evaluate
Sam Martin progress from game one.  Sam was drafted in the 5th Round by the Detroit Lions.

However, back in March when Sam attended my 2013 College Senior Specialist's Combine I evaluated and projected Sam to be one of the top two combination Punter / Kickoff Specialists in the 2013 Draft.

After his performance against the Patriots of punting 4 times for a 53.5 yard average with a long of 61 yards with two (2) inside the twenty yard line I believe he is everything the Lions wanted and needed.
Congrats to Sam.
Sam Martin Appalachian State University Punter & Kickoff Specialists Attends
Coach Zauner's 2013 College Senior Combine To Get More Exposure
Sam was one of 27 punters and 73 kicking specialists that attended Coach Zauner's 2013 College Senior Combine, held March 1-3, 2013 in Gilbert, Arizona.
Sam Martin caught Coach Zauner's "Eye" with his Explosive Punting Leg
Coach Zauner's College Senior Combine is producing results for specialists in smaller division schools.  In the 2012 NFL Draft, John Potter (Western Michigan) was Drafted in the 7th Round by the Buffalo Bills.  In this years 2013 NFL Draft it was Sam Martin (Appalachian State University).

Appalachian State University and Western Michigan are two smaller division football schools however, specialists are getting the exposure the deserve and need from my combines.

Coach Zauner's College Senior Combine has become a "Field of Dreams" for several college senior kicking specialists. Some have been drafted and others have signed Free Agent Contracts.  The key is to get the EXPOSURE they want, need and deserve and get into a NFL training camp to compete for a starting job.

The goal of Coach Zauner, LLC and the College Senior Combine is to get any college senior kicking specialists that has NFL potential and was NOT invited to the NFL Combine exposure.

I believe that because I have coached, trained and consulted 22 PRO Bowl and over 95 NFL kicking specialists NFL Special Teams Coaches and Directors of Personnel take notice of the lists, information and videos I gather.

The system is working and I hope it continues to work for the upcoming kicking specialists around the country that have the dream of one day playing in the NFL.  And most hard working specialists say they just want a chance.

Coach Zauner's College Senior and Free Agent Combines are giving kicking specialists the chance they want and deserve as long as they are performing at a high level.
Sam Martin Booms One of Many Fifty And Sixty Yard Punts During the Combine

Sam Martin was also, one of the best kickoff specialists during the 2012 NCAA Football Season.
At my 2013 College Senior Combine Sam demonstrated to me why he was one of the top
punter / kickoff specialists in this years draft.  Sam was a late entry to my Combine but I believe he is vert pleased that he attended and got the exposure he wanted and deserved.

Three weeks after my College Senior Combine I held my Free Agent Combine. By NFL rules, NFL Special Teams Coordinators & Directors of Pro Personnel are allowed to attend this combine and evaluate the talent.
NFL Special Teams Coordinators and Scouts at Coach Zauner's Free Agent Combine
Prior to this combine I have a meeting with all the NFL coaches and scouts in attendance a give them the results and DVD of all the best specialists that attended my College Senior Combine. Sam definitely got the exposure he wanted and deserved along with 15 other specialists.

Thirteen Specialists that attended my 2013 College Senior Combine went to NFL Training Camps. Coach Zauner's Combines are producing results just like Sam Martins Punting.

Swayze Waters Grey Cup Champion

Swayze Waters  University of Alabama Birmingham and Toronto Argonauts

I first met Swayze Waters when he attended my 2010 Free Agent Specialist's Kicking Combine in Phoenix, Arizona. He later signed with the Oakland Raiders. John Fassel the Raiders Special Teams Coordinator who was my former assistant with the Baltimore Ravens called me to say what a great job Swayze did in training camp. But also mentioned he thought he needed to work on a couple of fundamental things with his kicking game.
Swayze Waters Working A One on One Lesson In Phoenix, AZ

Swayze contacted me in the off season and signed up for a One on One Kicking, Kickoff and Punting Lesson. Swayze really impressed me with his ability to do all three things really well.  However, during future seasons some NFL teams were bringing him to camp in because he could do all three and maybe one not good enough to be an NFL kicker or punter.
Swayze Waters At Coach Zauner's Free Agent Combine
After my 2011 Free Agent Kicking Combine once again a couple of teams were trying to sign Swayze Waters to a Free Agent Contract. He signed with the New York Jets but was released soon after. Needless to say Swayze was heart broken.

We talked at length and I suggested he go up North to the Canadian Football League (CFL) to get game experience. He signed with the Edmonton Eskimos but again was release. Soon after he signed with the Toronto Argonauts. He played the entire season and along with his team won the 2012 CFL 100th Grey Cup. He has now established himself as one of the BEST in Canada. Hopefully soon he will get another chance in the NFL to prove to  all the teams they missed an opportunity in just signing him as a camp leg. In my opinion Swayze is a kicker that can play in any league.

Click here to read the 'Rings and Crowns' Blog posted by Swayze Waters.

As an athlete Swayze has demonstrated what happens when talent and preparation meet opportunity.

I wish Swayze the best of continued success in his career.

Rob Long's pursuit of his NFL dream

After his fight with cancer, Rob Long is trying to pursue an NFL career. Rob has attended my January PRO Development Camp for punters and snappers along with recently qualifying for the 2013 Coach Zauner Free Agent Combine.
Rob Long Attends Coach Zauner's
PRO Development Camp
I thought others would enjoy a video and story depicting a strong inspirational and motivational spirit as Rob continues to pursue his dream with dedication.

Cancer survivor resumes pursuit of his NFL dream

Below is an email I recently received;

I wanted to share a story with you in hopes you could feature it or tweet it out for us. It's about Rob Long, Syracuse's Punter from 2007 - 2010. He was a Freshman all-american, first team Big-East two years in a row, and then, his senior year he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This halted his journey to the NFL and this project is dedicated to help him get back there. The tumor was the size of a tennis ball, he beat it entirely and is now in the best shape of life.

Any media support you can give us would be a huge help.

Please check out our film.

And our Twitter & Facebook

On a personal note I would like to wish the best for Rob as he continues to follow his NFL dream.

2013 College Senior Combines Best Punters

2013 College Senior Combine Punters Group

At Coach Zauner's 2013 College Senior Combine 73 Specialists attended.  Twenty-Nine (29) Kickers, Twenty-Seven (27) Punters and Seventeen (17) Snappers.

The purpose of this combine is to get the senior class punters that deserve EXPOSURE.

I felt this top group of punters was the best group I have had in the past four years of my combine.  I even told my assistants that these five punters might be even better than the group of punters I saw two weeks previously at the NFL Combine.  We will all know when the NFL season starts in September.

After three days of evaluating the twenty-seven (27) punters I felt five had NFL potential.  In alphabetical order:  Ryan Doerr (Kansas State), Joseph Gardner (U. of Wisconsin - Whitewater), Scott Lopano (U. of Penn), Sam Martin (Appalachian State) and Tress Way (U. of Oklahoma).

Ryan Doerr (Kansas State University)
Joseph Gardner (U. of Wisconsin - Whitewater)

Scott Lopano (U. of Penn)
Sam Martin (Appalachian State University)
Tress Way (U. of Oklahoma)
In addition to the five punters that I recommended to the NFL, several other punters with a little work and improved consistency will maybe be future prospects:  Will Atterberry (U. of North Texas), Dalton Botts (U. of Miami), Alex King (U. of Texas), Jonathan Plisco (Old Dominion) and Daniel Zychlinski (Stanford).
Sam Martin Punter / Kickoff Specialists (Appalachian State)
Appalachian State University Punter / Kickoff Specialists, Sam Martin really caught my eye and everyone at the combine with his explosive punts, field goals and kickoffs.

I want to wish all the punters the best of luck in the upcoming 2013 NFL Draft and in the future.
