Austin Hills Punting Lesson

On Wednesday and Thursday Austin Hills a punter from Washburn University was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a One on One Punting Lesson.

Austin is big, strong and good looking punter from a small school in Topeka Kansas. He came to Milwaukee looking to refine his punting technique.

The first day when he started his lessons he was crunching forward and cutting many of his punts. He was not punting up and through the ball.

Austin like many punters had a flat or slightly nosed up drop too many times to be and effective punter. So the combination of his drop and crunching action was a major source of his problem.

We spent two days working my Drop Progression and One Step Drills. After two days of drills and better muscle memory Austin improved.

In the photo above he started his lesson crunching. In the photo below he ended his two days of lessons punting up and through the ball.

Some times being Frustrated is a part of learning and getting better.

At times Austin was frustrated during the lessson. However, most specialists get frustrated because things don't turn around as fast as they want it to. In three weeks I believe his hard work will start to pay dividends and his muscle memory will become automatic.

Austin came to Milwaukee looking to refine his technique and I believe he accomplished his goal. How hard he works the drills in the next couple weeks will be the key to his improvement and taking his punting game to the next level.

It was a pleasure meeting and working with Austin and I wish him the best of luck this upcoming season at Washburn College.
