Wisconsin Kicking Camps For POP Warner & Middle School Kickers and Snappers

Renowned Kicking, Punting and Snapping Coach, Gary Zauner is now offering Kicking and Snapping Camps for "POP" Warner, Middle School and High School Kickers, Punters and Snappers. 

Coach Zauner, former 11 year College and 13 year NFL Special Teams Coordinator who has now coached, consulted and trained 120 plus NFL and CFL kicking specialists, including 25 PRO Bowlers is now hosting specialists camps in November and May in Arizona and July in Wisconsin for "POP" Warner, Middle School and High School Specialists. 

These (1) ONE Day (2) Practice Kicking, Punting and Snapping Camps are designed to make specialists more accurate and consistent.   My goal as a teacher with a Masters Degree in Education and former high school, college and NFL coach is to emphasize the fundamentals and techniques with regards to the ART of Kicking, Punting and Snapping a Football. 

Coaches, if your looking to improve your percentages of kicking (2) two point conversions during "POP" Warner games, than you need to look to improve the form and technique of your snapper and kicker.  If you don't have a snapper or kicker than develop one.  The Coaches Edge To Winning - Is The Kicking Game!

These camps are NOT for Ranking and Ratings. My philosophy as a teacher and coach is if you want to be improve your ranking or rating at showcase events, than improve your technique.

Coach Zauner's Programs Produce Results For College Specialists

 "My Happiness as a Teacher/Coach comes from the success my Students/Specialists receive!"

This Year I Was A Very, Very, Very Happy Teacher and Coach!


Throughout my 40+ coaching career, I have now coached, consulted and trained 120 plus NFL and CFL kicking specialists, including 25 PRO Bowlers. And these numbers are increasing every year.

This was a very good year for Coach Zauner's Programs.  After coaching 11 years in college at BYU, San Diego State, University of New Mexico and Long Beach State and another 13 years in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens and Arizona Cardinals I decided to go back into my Snapping, Punting and Kicking Consulting Business. 

Since 2007 I have been doing ONE on ONE Snapping, Punting and Kicking Lessons for high school, college, free agent and professional specialists.  I also offer PRO Development Camps in January and May in Arizona and July in Wisconsin for all levels of kicking specialists.

A big part of Coach Zauner's Programs and NFL Networking are the College Senior Combine in February and the Free Agent Combine in March.  Both are producing results for NFL and CFL Teams and all the specialists attending.

After a long summer of training and specialists going into training camps several snappers that have participated in Coach Zauner's Snapping Programs made NFL rosters.

In December I first learned that one of my prize ONE on ONE students, Jace Christmann (Mississippi State) was honored by receiving the SEC All Freshman Award followed with a 2018 Freshman All-American Award.   Congrats to Jace!  He was a walk-on kicker that deserves to be rewarded with a scholarship!

In August I learned another ONE on ONE Kicker and walk-on at the University of Utah had made the roster.  In September became the starter and in December won the Lou Groza Award.  What a story that was.  Congrats to Matthew Gay for his unbelievable achievement.  As a walk-on he also deserves a scholarship.

After the 2017 football season in late December the post season Bowl Games invites went out.  It was a great year for Snappers.  

In the last 9 years Coach Zauner's Snapping Programs have produced 25 Snappers on NFL and CFL rosters.  This is probably a result of many of these snappers come to Arizona for ONE on ONE Snapping Lessons, attend my Snappers ONLY 'Vital Man' Training Camps and then participate in either of my College Senior or Free Agent Combines.

First Tanner Carew Called me in late November to inform me of his invite to the 2018 Reese's Senior Bowl. Next, Jake Wirsching (Bemidji State) was selected for the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.  Then Ike Powell was selected to the Senior Bowl.  Finally, Hunter Bradley was invited to the East / West Shrine Bowl.  Congrats to all the snappers for their hard work throughout their careers and getting well deserved Bowl Game invites.

In January of 2018 came the NFL Playoff Games. Three of the Snappers playing in the Semi-Final Games had all attended my PRO Development Camps for Specialists.  Now, I have re-named those Camps to Coach Zauner's Snapper's ONLY 'Vital Man' Training Camps.  More geared to Snappers that have a Dream to play in the NFL someday. 

I'm proud to say I worked many ONE on ONE Snapping Lessons with Jeff Overbaugh (San Diego State) and Rick Lovato (Old Dominion) for years. I hope I played a small part in their success during their careers.  Below is a great picture of the two snappers after their playoff game.

So, after looking at everything that happened this year and all the awards have come out, I am very  Happy with the impact Coach Zauner's Programs are having in todays Kicking World.

Sergio Castillo Hamilton Tiger Cats Kicker



I first met Sergio Castillo when he was a freshmen at West Texas State University.  He came to Fountain Hills, Arizona for a ONE on ONE Kicking and Punting Lesson after looking for some instructional help. 

Sergio was a very talented young man and kicking specialist, but was a product of camps that teach a more mechanical style of kicking.  I introduced Sergio to Coach Zauner's 'Natural Style of Kicking and Punting'.


Many specialists around the country go to Kicking and Punting Camps that teach what I call an Old School or mechanical style of kicking and punting.  Early in my career I also had that same teaching philosophy.  

However, through the years as I coached more and more Free Agent and NFL Kicking and Punting Specialists I adopted what I call 'A Natural Style of Kicking and Punting'.


During Sergio's college career at West Texas A & M he achieved many accolades.  He became an All American Kicker and won the Fred Mitchell Award.

After his senior college season he attended Coach Zauner's 2014 College Senior Combine in Gilbert, Arizona.  He was one of the top combo specialists that attended this prestigious event in 2014.  After the 2014 NFL Draft I recommended Sergio to Head Coach Mike Smith of the Atlanta Falcons and he was signed as a Free Agent by the Falcons.

He went to mini camp, training camp and played in a couple of pre-season games but was released by many free agent specialists. 

Next,  I recommended Sergio to the CFL.  For the next couple of years he attended try out camps and played in a couple of CFL games.  The biggest knock by CFL General Managers on Sergio was is punting consistency. 


For the last two years Sergio has come to Fountain Hills, Arizona for both PRO Development Camps and ONE on ONE Punting Lessons.  Sergio has worked hard and improved his both his punting consistency and technique.  In 2016 and 2017 he attended my January PRO Development Camps for Kickers and Punters. 


In March of this year, Sergio attended Coach Zauner's 2017 Free Agent Combine and performed very well in front of a full crowd of NFL & CFL Coaches, Scouts and Pro Personnel Directors.  He showed many of the NFL teams he has Potential as a NFL Kicker but also showed all the CFL Teams he has become a very good Kicker / Punter Combo specialist. 


The Canadian Football League term Americans as International Players.  Each Canadian team gets only so many international players allotted to their rosters. So, if your an American looking to make a CFL roster you better be a very good kicking and punting specialist.

Congrats to Sergio Castillo for all his hard work and passion in becoming a professional athlete.  In June of 2017 Sergio has now made the Hamilton Tiger Cats final roster.

Sergio Castillo All American Kicker, Wins Fred Mitchell Award

I first met Sergio Castillo, Jr. in 2010 when he came to Scottsdale, Arizona for a One on One Kicking Lesson.  Since that time he has come back almost every year for addiitonal kicking lessons to improve his technique and also to attend the PRO Development Camps to get competition. 

I am proud to announce Sergio is the recipient of the 2013 Fred Mitchell Award. The Award is provided to the nation’s top place-kicker in FCS, Division II, Division III, NAIA and NJCAA for excellence on the football field and in the community. Over 750 place-kickers are eligible.

The Award is named for Fred Mitchell, the All-American place-kicker from Wittenberg University and longtime sports columnist for the Chicago Tribune. Mitchell said, “It is a thrill to congratulate Sergio as the first Division II kicker to receive the Fred Mitchell Award. With more than 750 place-kickers to choose from, we are extremely proud to recognize Sergio among a stellar group of nominees. Sergio’s record-setting season and career are very impressive. He led the Buffs in scoring while playing a key role in the team’s successful playoff run and 11-3 record. He is a very accurate kicker, having made 62 of 79 career field goals and 251 of 255 extra points. Sergio has focused his community service efforts on mentoring young people.

Sergio volunteers weekly in the Students in Free Enterprise program to assist troubled youth with math, life lessons, college planning and job interviews.  He is a regular speaker in Amarillo in the Step Up to Success program, where he counsels high school and middle school students.  As a Toys for Juarez volunteer, he collects and distributes toys to children in Juarez, Mexico. He is a Huddle Leader, member of the football team’s Bible study and Fellowship of Christian Athletes member.

As you can see from the photos below Sergio started One on One Kicking Lessons with the typical head back and crunching style of kicking which is coached by many kicking coaches around the country.

Sergio has now adopted Coach Zauner's Natural Style of Kicking and Punting in which the torso stays more upright so he can kick and punt up and through the ball much easier.

Since 2010 Sergio has continually improved and matured as a person and kicker.  His mother has supported him in every way possible. Saving money for kicking lessons and kicking camps so her son could be the best he can be.

As a teacher and kicking coach I must say that Sergio Castillo was very coachable and a quick study.  He picked up the Natural Style of Kicking and Punting quickly and worked hard to master it.  His college stats and record speak for itself. 

I want to commend Sergio Castillo for his hard work in the past four years and congratulate him on his recent accomplishment as a First Team All American Place Kicker and now winning the 2013 Fred Mitchell Award. As a parent his mother must be very proud. Way to go Sergio!

 Sergio will be honored on February 17, 2014 during the National Football Foundation Chicago Metro Chapter Awards Ceremony.

Free Agent Combine Produces Exposure & Results

All too often, specialists were getting lost in the shuffle when forced to share the spotlight with hundreds of flash-and-dash position players in the NFL Combine. The limited exposure for special teams players and lack of post-combine success stories presented a huge problem for aspiring kickers, punters and snappers.. 
In 2008, Coach Gary Zauner and Joe Marciano started searching for a solution. 

They envisioned a "Field of Dreams" where elite specialists would have the opportunity to compete for roster spots in the NFL/CFL and in 2009, Coach Zauner’s Inaugural Free Agent Specialist’s Combine was born.

Professional scouts, coaches and personnel directors convened in Phoenix, Arizona to evaluate the 41 participants invited to showcase their skill set. The two-day event was a roaring success, yielding the likes of Pro Bowl kicker, Billy Cundiff and proving that Coach and Marciano may know a thing or two about assembling a talent pool.

Four years later, the Free Agent Specialist's Combine continues to produce results beyond expectations, lending credence to the tried and true benefits of the specialist's “Field of Dreams”.

 In 2013, 9 specialists, including Ryan Quigley, Brandon Bogotay and Derek Dimke, signed NFL contracts and an additional 14 participants were invited to NFL workouts or mini camps.
