Matthew McCrane Oakland Raiders Kicker

Matthew McCrane Kansas State University and now Oakland Raiders Kicker
Coach Zauner's College Senior and Free Agent Combines are
'A Specialist's Path To PRO Football"®
"Congrats To New Oakland Raiders kicker, Matthew McCrane"
This year Matthew McCrane (Kansas State), Trent Sieg (ColoradoState), Corey Bojorquez and Jason Sanders both from the University of New Mexico, along with Brett Maher (U. of Nebraska) and Hunter Bradley (Mississippi State) all made 2018 NFL Rosters from Coach Zauner's Programs.
Coach Zauner's Programs consist of not only the College Senior and Free Agent Combines but also ONE on ONE Lessons and PRO Development Camps. Brett Maher attended three of Coach Zauner's Free Agent Combines and Hunter Bradley has taken ONE on ONE Snapping Lessons and attended my Snappers ONLY 'Vital Man' Snapping Camps both in Arizona and Wisconsin. Congrats to all these specialists for making NFL final rosters this year.

In February, Matthew attended Coach Zauner's 2018 College Senior Combine in Gilbert, Arizona with (70) other College Senior Specialists.
Matthew competed for two days with (22) other College Senior Kicking Specialists. During the Combine all the snappers, punters and kickers are evaluated with respect to their NFL potential. Kickers are evaluated and tested in several areas, field goal form, technique, accuracy, consistency and kickoff potential.  Matthew's performance over three days caught my eye.
As I tell all the specialists attending my combines, winning a contest doesn't mean you have NFL potential it just means you won a field goal, kickoff or punting contest and congratulations. My bottom line and goal is to find NFL prospects and give their names to NFL teams so these specialists that might be overlooked get exposure to NFL teams.
Matthew didn't win any of the combine contests but showed me he has NFL potential and thats all that counts. He along with (4) other kickers, (8) punters and (7) snappers were recommended to NFL teams as having NFL potential.  He was ranked in Group 1, a kicker that is an NFL Prospect.

Coach Zauner's College Senior Combine in the past (9) years has produced Exposure and Results for many College Seniors.  Coach Zauner's 40 plus years of coaching, training and "Eye" for special teams talent and my recommendation to NFLCFL teams has resulted with (79) specialists signing NFcontracts, and many more have been invited to mini-camps. To date (29) of these specialists have made NFL rosters and (8) CFL rosters.
After the 2018 College Senior Combine and NFL Draft, Matthew signed a Free Agent Contract with the Arizona Cardinals.  He went to training camp and did very well in preseason.

On September 23, 2018 veteran NFL kicker, Mike Nugent was hurt during the Oakland Raiders game vs the Cleveland Browns. Matthew had a workout on Tuesday September 25 and was selected from a excellent group of kickers to replace Mike Nugent.

Like many kickers in the NFL, they received their opportunity because somebody got hurt. It's too bad that Mike Nugent got hurt.  But as they all say "Injuries are big part of the game." However, this is an opportunity for Matthew to make his mark as a starting kicker in the NFL and he has earned it.

Both Matthew McCrane and Snapper, Trent Sieg (Colorado State) attended my 2018 College Senior Combine. Both are now with the Raiders replacing specialists that got hurt in early season games.

Congrats to Matthew and I wish him and Trent the best of luck in their upcoming games for the Oakland Raiders.

In February, Corey attended Coach Zauner's 2018 College Senior Combine in Gilbert, Arizona with (70) other College Senior Specialists.
Corey competed for two days with (25) other College Senior Punting Specialists.  During the Combine all the snappers, punters and kickers are evaluated with respect to their NFL potential. Punters are evaluated on form and technique and also tested in several areas: open field punts, directional right and left punts and inside the 20 yard line punts.  Also, their ability to kickoff, kick field goals and hold.

As I tell all the specialists attending my combines, winning a contest doesn't mean you have NFL potential it just means you won a punting, field goal or kickoff contest and congratulations. My bottom line and goal is to find NFL prospects and give their names to NFL teams so these specialists that might be overlooked get exposure to NFL teams.
Corey however, did win two awards.  Longest and best hang time punts.   Through the weekend Corey caught my eye and that's all that matters.   Being ranked in Group 1, a specialists with NFL potential.  Through the years I have recommended a group of NFL potential specialist to NFL teams and thats all that counts. He along with (7) other punters, (4) kickers and (7) snappers were recommended to NFL teams as having NFL potential and should be looked at NFL Prospects.

As a side note.  I coached at the University of New Mexico in 1986 and 87 and still follow Lobo Football every year.  I was very aware of both of these Lobo Specialists by some of my friends still working at the University.
Congrats to both University of New Mexico Lobos, Corey Bojorquez and Jason Sanders for their hard work and dedication and making 2018 NFL Rosters.  Go Lobos!

Produce NFL and CFL Exposure & Results for Specialists and Teams
Brett Maher At Coach Zauner's 2018 Free Agent Combine
Congrats to Brett Maher (U. of Nebraska) for signing and making the Dallas Cowboys Roster.  For the past three years (2016, 2017 and 2018),  Brett has attended Coach Zauner's Free Agent Combine held in March every year in Gilbert, Arizona at Campo Verde High School.

This Combine was created back in 2009 as Coach Zauner's vision or  "Field of Dreams" for Kicking, Punting and Snapping Specialists.

Every year this showcase event draws an average of 26 NFL and 4 CFL Teams.  Special Teams Coordinators, Assistant Special Teams Coaches, Directors of PRO Personnel and NFL Scouts attend this combine to evaluate the kicking, punting and snapping specialists in attendance.

Brett who had just finished playing in the CFL for the Ottawa Redblacks in 2016 season attended the 2017 Free Agent Combine.  Brett had an awesome day competing against (35) other free agent kickers and won the field goal competition.  After the combine Brett signed with the Cleveland Browns.  After being released he signed back with the Ottawa Redblacks in the CFL.

89 Specialists Qualify For the 2018 Free Agent Combine
Every year Dallas Cowboys Director of PRO Personnel, Henry Sroka has been in attendance. I have know Henry for over 25 years and he is one of the few PRO Scouts that loves to evaluate kicking specialists.

This year once again Brett attended the 2018 Free Agent Combine.   This combine had 135 specialists register.   However, only 89 specialists qualified.  There were (38) kickers that performed in front of the NFL & CFL Teams in attendance.

This year after the Free Agent Combine the Dallas Cowboys brought in several specialists.  The Cowboys eventually signed two specialists, Scott Daly (Notre Dame Snapper) and Brett Maher (U. of Nebraska & Veteran CFL player).

Brett competed with Dan Bailey (Veteran NFL Kicker) and won the job after four preseason games.  Congrats to Brett for all his hard work and dedication to fulfill his dream of playing in the NFL.

Now, Coach Zauner's Free Agent Combine has been a "Field of Dreams" for Dallas Cowboys Kicker, Brett Maher.  Congrats and Best of Luck this season!

Trent Sieg Oakland Raiders Snappers

Trent Sieg Colorado State University and Oakland Raiders

Congrats to Trent Sieg (Colorado State University Snapper) for signing with the Oakland Raiders for the 2018 NFL Season.
Trent Sieg at ONE on ONE Snapping Lesson in Fountain Hills, Arizona
I first met and worked with Trent Sieg back in 2016 when he came to Fountain Hills, Arizona for a ONE on ONE Snapping Lesson.  He told me that his goal was to become and NFL snapper and wanted to do whatever it took to give him the best chance to achieve his goal.

Trent Sieg Works To Improve His Snapping Accuracy & Consistency
Like most snappers he had some excellent potential but needed to become more accurate, consistent, and improve his blocking footwork.
Trent Sieg Working To Improve His Blocking Technique

In the past couple of years Trent took several ONE on ONE Snapping Lessons and also attend my Snappers ONLY 'Vital Man' Training Camps in both Arizona and Wisconsin.
2016 Snappers ONLY 'Vital Man' Training Camp in Franklin, Wisconsin

These Snapping Camps are designed for the College, Free Agent and Elite High School Snappers to be exposed to NFL Coaching Techniques.   I not only emphasize how to improve your snapping accuracy and consistency but also expose these snappers to NFL blocking and coverage Techniques.

These camps are attended every year by many of the nations top collegiate snappers.  They all want to know how they stack up with other top college and NFL potential snappers around the country.

In the past several years there have been many elite college snappers attend these Snappers ONLY 'Vital Man' Training Camps.  Several of them are now playing on Sundays!  Morgan Cox (Ravens), Matt Overton (Colts),  Kevin McDermott (Vikings), Joe Cardona (Patriots), Kyle Nelson (49ers), Reid Ferguson (Bills), Beau Brinkley (Titans), Zach Woods (Saints), Hunter Bradley (Packers), Rick Lovato (Eagles) and now Trent Sieg (Raiders).

In January of 2018 Trent was again here in Fountain Hills for a ONE on ONE Snapping Lesson, than came to the January Snappers ONLY Camp preparing for the 2018 College Senior Combine.

(23) Snappers Attend Coach Zauner's 2018 College Senior Combine

Coach Zauner's 9th Annual College Senior Combine attracted 70 College Seniors.  Trent was one of the 19 Snapping, Punting and Kicking Specialists that I recommended  to the 32 NFL Professional Football Teams that I felt have as NFL potential.

After the 2018 NFL Draft Trent signed a Free Agent Contract with the Baltimore Ravens.  Trent was very fortunate to play in all five preseason games and show other NFL teams what his true potential would be.

When Andrew DePaola the Raiders snapper unfortunately got injured in the opening game the Oakland Raiders had tryouts and brought in six free agent snappers.  After an extensive workout Trent Sieg was the Raiders choice.

So, Congrats to Trent for all his hard work and dedication to pursuing his goal of becoming an NFL Snapper.
