At Coach Zauner's 2016 July Specialist's Camp in Milwaukee, WI
Congrats to 2016 Lou Groza Finalists, Younghoe Koo (Georgia Southern).

Last year I received a phone call from Younghoe Koo inquiring about attending my July PRO Development Camp for Kickers and Punters.  Snapper, Jake Banta One of his teammates had attended several of Coach Zauner's events an gave him a strong recommendation to reach out for guidance as he approached his Senior Year.

When we talked he mentioned that he had aspirations to take his game to the next level and wanted to  work on and improve certain aspects of his game.  So, this summer he attended my July PRO Development Camp in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with many other top College Kickers and Punters.

During this three day camp I noticed this young man had some excellent kicking potential.  He and Michael Geiger (Michigan State) won the Sunday Field Goal Contest.

In his senior year, as of November 22, 2017  Younghoe Koo is 19 for 20 after 10 games.  His only miss I believe was from 54 yards two games ago.

Once again, Congratulations to Younghoe Koo for his nomination to the 2016 Lou Groza Finalist List.  The two other 2016 Groza Finalists are: Daniel Carlson (Auburn) and Zane Gonzalez (ASU). I wish all three kickers the best of luck in quest for the prestigous 25th Lou Groza Award.

Australian Punters Check out Coach Zauner's Programs

Australian Punters in the NFL?

Several years ago Coach Zauner went to Melbourne Australia to check out a group of Australian Punters to qualify for his Free Agent Combine. Why?

In the early 1990's when I was just working as a Kicking Consultant and living in San Diego I was called one day by then General Manager, Bobby Beathard, to come over to Jack Murphy Stadium and check out some young Australian Aussie Rules Punter.  Flashback!  It was Darren Bennett.

After the workout Bobby asked my opinion and there was no question that this young man had NFL potential but in my opinion needed some technique work. Bobby asked me to work with him to get him NFL ready. I said Yes, However.....
Aussie Rules Punter Signs with San Diego Chargers
That same week I received my dream call from Dennis Green, who was then the Head Coach of the Minnesota Vikings.

As history shows a week later I became the Special Teams Coordinator for the Minnesota Viking and Darren Bennett signs in 1994 with the San Diego Chargers.  In 1995 Darren is sent to NFL Europe and plays with the Amsterdam Admirals and becomes NFL ready.  In his first NFL season in 1995 Darren becomes a PRO Bowl Punter.

Since meeting Darren way back in the early 1990's we have both gone on to have long NFL careers. While coaching in the NFL from 1993 to 2007 I noticed the influx of Australian Rules Punters and the success they had in the NFL. Several examples are Ben Graham (Geelong Australia), Sav Rocca  and Matt McBriar both of (Melbourne, Australia).

Most recently, younger Australian Rules punters are having success and an impact on the United States College Football scene.  College football coaches are now using the Aussie Rules or Rugby running punt technique.  It has become a weapon for field position in College Football.

The only problem I see is that some of the very successful Australian Punters in College Football using the running punt scheme are not transitioning to the Professional Football League because of their lack of NFL Punting Technique.   Translation: Good Hands, Quick Get-Offs, Directional Punting with Hang Times.

Coach Zauner teaches 'A Natural Style of Kicking and Punting' and that is why many Australian's are checking out Coach Zauner's One on One Lessons and Camps to improve their technique. If they want exposure to NFL Teams they are checking out Coach Zauner's Combines.

Today, Australians Rules Punters and Professional Rugby players are coming to Fountain Hills, Arizona to refine their NFL Punting Technique and Rugby Kicking Technique.

Also, Professional Australian Rules Punters and Australian College Punters are coming to Coach Zauner's College Senior and Free Agent Combines to get Exposure to NFL Teams.

Scott Daly - University of Notre Dame Perfect Laces Drill with Coach Zauner

Scott Daly (U. of Notre Dame Snapper)
I first met and worked with University of Notre Dame Snapper, Scott Daly back in March.  Scott and his family where in Phoenix, Arizona for his sister's Soft Ball Tournament at ASU and Scott booked a ONE on ONE Snapping Lesson in Fountain Hills.

Scott is entering his senior season at Notre Dame and has aspirations to be a NFL Snapper.  The biggest factor for most college snappers making the transition from college to the Pro's is being able to snap and block.

Scott was very impressive snapping both long and short but is a perfectionist.  He is putting in the time and effort to be the best he can be for his final college season at Notre Dame and impressing the NFL Scouts for next year.

Scott will also be attending Coach Zauner's Snappers ONLY Camp in Milwaukee on July 15-17, 2016.  CLICK FOR SNAPPERS ONLY WEB PAGE

Scott and Tanner Carew (U. of Oregon Snapper) are very good friends and just so happened to book ONE on ONE Snapping the same weekend in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in June.  Below check out Scott Daly's 'Perfect Laces' Drill with Coach Zauner.

Coach Zauner's Programs Develop Tight Ends as NFL Snappers

Coach Zauner's Adds New Division To Develop Tight Ends as NFL Snappers

"I Believe a Tight End Is The "PERFECT ATHLETE" to Develop Into an NFL Snapper"
Coach Zauner - As a former 13 year NFL Special Teams Coordinator, the 2nd and 3rd Tight Ends must be an integral part of the Special Teams Unit when putting together the Final 53 Man NFL Roster. NFL GM's, PRO Personnel Directors and Special Teams Coordinators are fully aware that playing Tight End requires the rare combination of the strength and blocking skills of an offensive lineman with the speed and hands of a wide receiver.  A Tight End's ability to either backup at his position, contribute on Special Teams, punt and field goal snap or eventaully develop into the starting snapper significantly improves his value to the team.
This is why Coach Zauner has hired Billy Khayat to head up his new Tight End/Snapper Coaching Division. Billy not only coached and played Tight End in the NFL, but also was a long snapper. He knows from personal expierence that snapping at an NFL backup or starting level could have significantly lengthened his NFL playing career.
BILLY KHAYAT (Duke University) Tight End with Carolina, Kansas City & Dallas
"I firmly believe that if I had met Coach Zauner during my days as a College or NFL player, the combination of my raw ability to snap with his expert instruction of technique specific to the position would have greatly enhanced my chances of becoming a full-time NFL Snapper."
6 YEARS AS AN NFL COACH WITH THE ARIZONA CARDINALS & WASHINGTON REDSKINS
I've been associated with Coach Zauner for the past several years as an NFL assistant and as a part of his PRO Development Camps, College Senior Combine and his Free Agent Combine.  During this time, I've watched him build quality relationships with his specialists though not only his personality, but with his ability to give instruction specific to the intricacies of snapping, punting and kicking. I made the decision to join his team full-time after several years of watching him consistently develop specialists into accurate, dependable and valuable players on the field. His passion for instructing these historically under-coached positions resonated with me as a former Tight End.  Since first stepping on to the playing field in 1987, I have been either playing or coaching Tight End. I learned quickly that the position and those playing it were an afterthought despite the importance of their role.  With great enthusiasim, I have been on a crusade to give Tight Ends the respect that they hae earned.
